Search term magic. The BESST team is gearing up for an eventful year with three major conferences lined up in 2023! Our team members will be travelling to different parts of the world to share our latest findings and insights with fellow researchers, practitioners, and academics in the field of mental health. First up, in June 2023, we’re thrilled to be participating in a symposium at the prestigious World Congress of Cognitive Behavioural Therapies in Seoul, South Korea. The symposium will revolve around the crucial topic of reaching out early to children and young people with mental health problems. Our trial manager, Dr Stephen Lisk, will be shedding light on the baseline characteristics and recruitment approaches for BESST, providing valuable insights into our approaches. Dr June Brown, our Chief Investigator, will be presenting our findings from focus groups, which delve into the experiences of students who received the DISCOVER workshop. And finally, Dr Crispin Day, our fidelity lead, will be sharing approaches to reach socially disadvantaged families and communities, as well as the outcomes of our peer-led parenting program that empowers parents and communities.
Next, we’ll be heading to the International Conference on Early Intervention in Mental Health in picturesque Lausanne, Switzerland from July 10th to 12th. Here, we’ll be giving an overview of BESST and discussing potential avenues to take this ground-breaking project forward after the final results are in. We’re excited to engage with fellow experts in the field and exchange ideas on how we can make a real impact on early intervention in mental health.
Last but not least, we’re delighted to wrap up our conference tour at the 51st British Association for Behavioural and Cognitive Psychotherapies (BABCP) Conference, which will be held in Cardiff, Wales. Here, we’ll once again be sharing an overview of the baseline characteristics and recruitment approaches for BESST, showcasing the progress we’ve made in this ground-breaking project. We’re eagerly looking forward to these conferences, where we’ll have the opportunity to discuss BESST in-depth and learn about other exciting mental health research taking place across the globe. We’ll be sure to provide updates and insights from these exciting conferences as soon as we’re back.
